Analysis of grain export shipments based on the analytical platform Logistic OS.

Throughout the first half of January 2021, there has been a noticeable increase in grain shipments from Russia abroad.

By the end of the week, the price of a futures for Russian wheat was already approaching $300 per ton.

The March contract is trading at $301 per ton, the first time since 2014.

During the first half of the month, 1.724 thousand tons of grain were exported, which is 87% more than in the same period last year.

659.202 tons of grain passed through the Novorossiysk terminals — an increase of 102% compared to the previous year.

Rostov-on-Don terminals increased shipments by 78%.

The largest importers of Russian grain, Turkey and Egypt, also became more active.

Turkey has shipped grain by 32%, and Egypt — by 383%.

The main share of the market among Russian exporters is occupied by OOO Trading House “RIF” — 244 954 tons of grain have been shipped abroad.

Compared to the same period last year, the company’s shipments have increased more than 8 times.
 

According to analysts, Russian exporters are cautious in entering into contracts with a due date after February 1, 2021.

There are constant changes in the sphere of Russian legislation.

Yes, the price of wheat in the world market is high. The question is how the market will «win back» it.

At a January tender held by GASC (Egyptian State Food Procurement Agency), Russian wheat was offered at $315 per ton, Romanian — $292.97, and French at $ 293.86 — $297.75 per ton.

As a result, the Egyptian side refused to purchase.
