An agreement to this effect was signed between the two countries this week.
It is planned that thanks to this processing center it will be possible to expand trade not only in grain, but also in fat and oil products.
In recent years, trade cooperation between Russia and China has been growing. China today has become the second (after the United States) state in terms of food imports.
And in the list of countries where the Russian Federation sells its agricultural products, the PRC is the first.
For example, in January-October 2020, Russia sent more than 3.7 million tons of food products to China, earning over $ 3.2 billion.
The pace is growing rapidly: compared to 2019, this is about a quarter more. And the potential is far from being exhausted.
China is actively buying:
Grain and flour.
Soy and vegetable oils.
Meat and fish.
Sales of vegetable oil in China over the past year more than doubled, and soybean sales by 27%.
What will the opening of a logistics center give?
It is planned that its construction will further expand the Russian-Chinese food export.
The center in Suifenhe city will serve as a collection and distribution function, so that imported products will be sent further at high speed: to processing plants.
It is assumed that the import center will have an area of at least 720 thousand square meters.
The first stage of the project is the construction of 210 thousand square meters of space, including a warehouse of 100 thousand square meters for storing products.
In the future, it is planned to create zones for processing grain and oilseeds directly on the territory of the center.
The budget for this project is about $ 262 million. Of these, 72 million will go to the construction of the first stage.
It is planned that the construction of such a center will not only deepen Russian-Chinese trade relations, but will also contribute to the development of the city of Suifenhe, next to which the border passes.
