The first stage of the new grain terminal started working in the Rostov port

Full commissioning of all capacities is scheduled for 2022. Investments will amount to about 1.8 billion rubles.

The investor of the project is Rostov Sea Multimodal Port LLC (RMMP).

The project began its development in 2019, then RMMP-Zerno LLC was created, the founder of which is Rostov Sea Multimodal Port LLC, which is increasing its turnover from year to year.

So, in 2019, the revenue of LLC RMMP more than doubled to 760 million rubles. Despite the fact that in 2020 the growth was not so significant (4%), in general, in three years, the revenue of the RMMP has grown more than five times.

The company directly connects its further development with the implementation of a new project, and the declared volumes of transshipment already in the current agricultural season of 1 million tons should allow the port to gain a foothold in the position of one of the largest in the south of Russia.

In the 2020/21 agricultural year, Rostov-on-Don terminals became the second largest in terms of grain products shipped for export, increasing transshipment by more than 11%.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to carry out the reconstruction of the quay embankment, which will allow to receive various types of ships and modernize the infrastructure for transshipment of grain.

To date, laboratories, auto-receiving lines for grain, railway receiving lines, eight silos with a volume of 45.6 thousand tons, conveyor lines for shipping and loading towers have already been built.

The next stage of work should make it possible to increase the accumulation volumes: this is the installation of 16 silos for storing grain with a total volume of 91.2 thousand tons and equipment for processing grain.

The storage capacity of RMMP during the project will almost triple: from 52 thousand tons to 141 thousand tons.

Also, the speed of acceptance of railway wagons and vehicles with grain and the speed of shipping to water will increase.

In general, analysts assess the project as promising: the export of the agro-industrial complex is increasing, new flows of supplies of raw materials abroad, such as, for example, grain and seeds, are being established, new export markets are opening up.

The potential of Rostov port terminals and the potential of the Don River are estimated at 25 million tons per year.

One of the main problems to be solved is the reconstruction of the Zarechnaya station. Over the past ten years, its cargo turnover has doubled, but further expansion is physically impossible. And this hinders the development of the entire left-bank zone.

This issue can be resolved by continuing work on the project of the Portovaya station — a large railway ring, which passed the Glavgosexpertiza several years ago, but has not yet been implemented.
