Some regions have started harvesting a new crop (meeting of the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia).

Spring crops were planted on an area of 52 million hectares (+1.6 million hectares compared to last year). Sowings of sugar beet, spring grains, sunflowers, rapeseed and soybeans have been increased.

Regions of the Southern, North Caucasus and Volga districts have begun harvesting a new crop: 1.2 million areas of grain and leguminous crops have been threshed, 4.1 million tons of grain have been threshed.

The average yield exceeds last year’s indicators: 35.1 centners per hectare (32.2 centners / ha in 2020). The higher quality of work with the seed fund and with plant protection products and fertilizers also affects.

Fears are caused by the regions where the emergency regime was introduced. These are the Trans-Baikal Territory, Khabarovsk Territory, Bashkortostan, Crimea, Amur, Orenburg and Omsk Regions.

Thanks to the amendments to the law on agricultural insurance adopted this year, insurance payments with state support will be made to the affected farms.

At the meeting, we once again recommended that agricultural enterprises step up their actions to receive these payments.

Unfavorable weather conditions, primarily drought, also affect the rate of harvesting of forage.

As of July 5, 4.6 million tons of coarse and succulent feed were procured, and the remainder from last year is estimated at 5.4 million tons.

The Far Eastern Federal District, in comparison with last year, exceeded the rate of fodder procurement by 3 times. The leaders in terms of procurement volumes are the North-West, South and North-Caucasian Federal Districts.

It was noted at the meeting that the measures to support the processing enterprises, taken by the government, made it possible to stabilize the prices for sugar, sunflower oil, flour and bread.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. The market situation remains stable.
