In the first half of July, Ukraine exported almost a million tons of grain

In terms of productivity, farmers are setting a record: an average of 41.6 centners per hectare.

In the 2020/2021 marketing year, the export of Ukrainian wheat decreased by 19% compared to the 2019/2020 MY and amounted to 16.7 million tons.

The increased world prices offset the losses from the fall in exports, and revenue for wheat fell less significantly compared to 2019/2020: by 5%.

The country has made a good start in the new marketing year, shipping 206 thousand tons more grain when compared with the same dates in 2020/2021 MY.

Since January 2021, the partners of the analytical project Logistic OS, in addition to Russia, have become available information on export shipments of grain and oilseeds from countries such as Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria.

Data on current shipments in the ports of Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania and historical data on grain shipments since 2012 can be generated on the basis of the analytical platform Logistic OS.

The system consists of several modules: Line-up, Export Date, Ratings, Ports, Cargoes, Vessels, as well as a large number of reference books.

Users are given the opportunity to use various analytical tools and download data in the format Excel.

When there is a need to obtain comparative data in the form of ratings, then in the «Ratings» module it is necessary to select the country, the type of cargo and the required time interval (in this case, from July 01, 2020 to June 30, 2021.)

The resulting chart shows which grain cargoes were exported and in what volume.

In terms of the rate of grain exports in 2021, Ukraine is on a par with Russia, and in the first half of July it overtakes by almost 17%.

The Export Date module allows you to select a country, type of cargo and a period for analysis. In addition, in this module it is possible to apply several filters: Port, Terminal, Ship, Cargo, Sender, Recipient, Country of import.

But, if we return to the “Ratings” module, and switch to the “Cargo” tab in the top menu bar, we will see that the main share in export shipments of grain from Ukraine is maize (72%).

Russia, on the other hand, has 66% of grain export shipments — wheat.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine predicts the grain harvest in 2021 comparable to the record year 2019: 75 million tons.

Analysts suggest that wheat exports could be increased by 18% to 19.8 million tons due to a 10% increase in its production to 27.3 million tons.
