Krasnodar Territory has updated the record for grain harvest

At the moment, harvesting is almost finished, grain harvested 12.4 million tons. While it was planned about 11 million tons.

Thus, the Kuban agrarians can be congratulated on the new record. The previous one was in 2019: 11.2 million tons.

As for 2020, it showed a very average result: 9.4 million tons.

The harvested grain is mainly winter wheat (10.5 million tons), winter barley (1.1 million tons). Up to 90% of wheat belongs to the 3rd and 4th class.

In addition to the collection volumes, this year two more indicators were at their best:

Area : the crop was harvested from 1.9 million hectares.

Harvest per hectare : 60 centners (+11.7 to last year).

And this is despite the fact that in the Krasnodar Territory, at the very time of the harvest, there were prolonged rains, because of which it had to be postponed for 2 weeks.

“The harvest took place in difficult weather conditions. Thanks to all field workers and scientists for their hard work! Our grain growers are real professionals in their field, and new records are proof of this. Thanks to you, the Krasnodar Territory retains the status of the guarantor of the country’s food security, — said the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev.

The bulk of the harvest will be exported

According to Vice Governor Andrey Korobka, the region’s own grain demand is relatively small (up to 3 million tons per year). This is the total demand of the food and livestock industries.

Anything over (and this year it is about 8 million tons) will be exported .

The main buyers of grain from the Krasnodar Territory are Turkey and Egypt: they account for up to 40% of the volumes exported.

In this case, the grain will most likely be sent for export, regardless of what duties are set by the government of the Russian Federation.

Producers simply have no other option how else to realize such a gigantic harvest.

The only difference is that high prices and low tariffs would encourage producers to achieve similarly impressive results next year.

But if the profit is low, then they may reconsider their decisions on the sown area. And these decisions need to be made in the near future, because the preparation of the fields for the early winter sowing has already begun.

Harvesting is currently in full swing in other regions of the country.

At the moment, in Russia as a whole, up to 13.5 million hectares have already been harvested and more than 45 million tons of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested.

At the same time, the average yield in the country is almost half that in the Krasnodar Territory: about 35 centners of grain per hectare.
