Reason: we cannot compete with imports on prices.
The Association of Russian Gardeners, the Kuban Gardeners Union, the Stavropol Territory Association of Nurseries and Gardeners, the Dagestan Gardeners Union sent a letter with a corresponding request to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
As in many industries, production costs are steadily increasing and selling prices are falling.
Many farmers were unable to pay off their loans, because last year they suffered serious losses due to weather anomalies.
The cost of apple production, for example, increased by almost one and a half times, as the price of chemicals, fertilizers, packaging, fuel and lubricants increased.
Against the background of growing imports from Iran and Moldova, the price from producers is decreasing, which, of course, pleases consumers, but not Russian gardeners.
The domestic product cannot compete with import prices.
The cost of apples is 30 rubles per kilogram, the price of wholesalers is 15-25 rubles.
In Russia, 1.2 million tons of apples are grown, and another million is imported.
Earlier, the Association of Russian Gardeners came up with a proposal to the government to legislate reservations for local manufacturers of a certain share in stores and establish a minimum margin.
The initiative outlined in the letter is to introduce a quota of 40% of consumption during the mass ripening season, so that it is possible not to drop below profitability.
If the government supports the initiatives of gardeners, then, undoubtedly, consumers will see a rise in prices for fruit and berry products.
