Preliminary analysis of the dynamics of grain exports through the ports of Russia in 2021/2022 MY

Volumes, Top 10 exporters, main importing countries (based on the Logistic OS analytical platform).

Since the beginning of this agricultural year, the relevant ministries and analysts have repeatedly reduced their forecasts for grain exports.

As of October 7, 2021, Russia exported 9.8 million tons of wheat, which is 21.8% less than the same date last year.

From July 1 to September 30, 2021 through the ports of Russia, according to the analytical platform Logistic OS, 13,187 thousand tons were registered as export shipments of grain and leguminous crops.

Data on current shipments in the ports of Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania, historical data on grain shipments since 2012 can be generated on the basis of the analytical platform Logistic OS.

The system consists of several modules: Line-up, Export Date, Ratings, Ports, Cargoes, Vessels, as well as a large number of reference books.

Users are given the opportunity to use various analytical tools and download data in the format Excel.

When there is a need to obtain comparative data in the form of ratings, then in the «Ratings» module it is necessary to select the country, the type of cargo and the required time interval (in this case, from July 01, 2020 to September 30, 2021.)

The resulting diagram shows which grain cargo and in what volume were exported through the seaports of Russia.

Decrease in shipments of grain and leguminous crops to the same date last year is more than 29%.

The top ten exporters have undergone changes.

As before, OOO TD Rif and JSC Aston have stable positions: like a year ago, they are leaders among exporters.

In addition to the leaders, the top ten exporters included:

Demeter Trading

Viterra

OZK

Cargill

Grain-Trade

AK AST M

Louis Dreyfus East.

Three countries have become the main importers of Russian grains and legumes: Turkey, Iran and Egypt.

And if Turkey and Egypt were in the TOP-3 a year ago, then Iran burst into the top three quite powerfully: in 2020, the country occupied the fifth line of the rating (872 thousand tons), and in 2021 — already the second in the ranking with a volume more than 3.2 million tons.

According to analysts, despite the projected lower level of export shipments in the current agricultural year, Russia will retain its leadership in wheat exports.
