Poultry production in Russia under threat

In the near future, feed mills in the Russian Federation may suspend their work.

In this case, the entire poultry industry will be under attack, and an increase in meat prices will be inevitable.

The main reason for the shutdown of factories can be a problem with the lack of feed components. In particular, this applies to the amino acid lysine.

There is nowhere to take it especially: in Russia, the main producer is Premix Plant No. 1, but the demand so much exceeds the supply that it cannot cope with the load and is forced to raise prices.

The plant’s management notes that it is doing everything possible to provide the company with a high level of utilization and not reduce production volumes.

Against this background, poultry farmers are very worried.

Recently, the head of the National Meat Association of the Russian Federation, Sergei Yushin, sent a letter to First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, in which he expressed his concern about the current situation.

If you do not take action in the near future, the consequences can be very unpleasant: from rising meat prices to reducing its production, reducing the quality or even mass mortality of poultry. Indeed, in the absence of high-quality compound feed, there is simply nothing to feed it.

As noted, the Ministry of Agriculture is already considering what can be done to solve the problem, but so far no suitable tools have been found.

How can you solve the problem with compound feed?

Obviously, since the main difficulty is lysine, as well as vitamins, it is necessary to find additional sources of this raw material. Currently, we had to face supply problems from Brazil, France and South Korea.

The main causes of the problems are as follows:

The rise in the cost of logistics.

Decrease in lysine production in South Korea.

Low attractiveness of the Russian market.

Now a kilogram of lysine on the Russian market costs about $ 2.8, while in the EU — about $ 4.5, in the USA — about $ 5. Therefore, in conditions of a shortage, the Russian market will not be filled with imported products in the first place .

At the same time, as noted by Yushin, it will not be possible to dramatically increase its own production of amino acids and vitamins. Therefore, the main task is to find new suppliers abroad. This will significantly reduce prices on the domestic market.

It is worth solving the problem as soon as possible, before it worsens.

Cherkizovo does not panic yet and say that the company has the necessary reserves. But Miratorg honestly warns that the problem may not be solved until the summer.
