Brief analysis of the dynamics of trade turnover from January 31 to February 06, 2022 (week 5)

Long debates on the issue of banning offshore transshipment of grain cargo eventually led to the fact that this initiative did not find proper support.
The adoption of the bill in the initial reading would have a particular impact on the Rostov region, whose losses would be estimated at billions of dollars.
Using offshore transshipment, the region ships 60% of all exports of this type of product.
The Rostov region is one of the largest grain producers.
In 2021, the region harvested about 14 million tons of grains and legumes, which is 11% more than in 2020.
In the total crop, 83-85% is wheat, 6-7% — barley, 5-6% — corn.
At the same time, the structure of grain consumption differs from other regions:
70-80% of the crop is exported
7-10% goes to processing
7-8% — for seeds
6-7% — for livestock feed.
The grain that the region sends for export passes through three main ports: Rostov, Taganrog and Azov.
Transshipment from small vessels to large-capacity vessels is carried out in the roads of the port of Kavkaz.
The first half of 2021/22 SG was not the best for the Rostov port: grain exports decreased globally throughout the country compared to 2020/21 SG.
The decrease in the volume of grain shipped abroad also affected the Rostov port.
In the first half of 2020/21 SG, 4 876 thousand tons of wheat were exported through the terminals of the Rostov port.
For the same period in 2021/22, 3 131 thousand tons of wheat were shipped abroad, which is 35.7% less.
The downward trend in the volume of exports of grain and leguminous cargoes in the Rostov port continued last week.
From January 31 to February 06, 2022 (week 5), 50 123 tons of grain and leguminous cargoes were exported through the terminals of the port of Rostov-on-Don.
Compared to the same period in 2021, shipments decreased by 70.4%.
Compared to the previous week in 2022 – 21.2% decrease
24 983 tons of wheat shipped abroad.
Compared to the same period in 2021, shipments decreased by 83.9%.
Compared to the previous week in 2022 – 46.2% decrease
46.3% of the total volume of wheat was shipped by Aston LLC.
Data on current shipments in the ports of Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania, historical data on shipments of grain since 2012 can be generated on the basis of the analytical platform Logistic OS.
The system consists of several modules: Line-up, Export Date, Ratings, Ports, Cargoes, Vessels, as well as a large number of directories.
Users are given the opportunity to use various analytical tools and export data in Excel format.
In order to get data on trade turnover, exporters, importing countries of any port, you need to select a country, type of cargo, port of interest or a specific basin and time interval in the «Ports» module.
