The All-Russian Grain Forum has completed its work

The organizer is the Union of Grain Exporters with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. May 26-28, 2022

The event brought together more than 320 delegates from 160 industry companies representing 24 major grain-producing regions of the country, as well as foreign guests. The plenary session of the forum was opened by the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, who outlined the priorities for the development of the grain industry, measures to support and regulate it.

The participants and delegates of the forum exchanged their vision of the situation and the current problems of the grain market in the context of hidden sanctions against Russian grain. «Despite the absence of direct sanctions on food supplies, many hidden barriers have recently emerged that complicate the supply of Russian grain to countries in need, among which the most relevant are the blocking of accounts and payments for Russian grain, the freezing of credit lines of importing companies and the ban on foreign ships to enter to Russian ports for loading,” commented Eduard Zernin, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Grain Exporters, who added that a possible option for a comprehensive solution to the problem could be the creation of a separate grain market between partner countries, with its own clearing currency, trade rules and dispute resolution.

The forum delegates expressed the opinion that the event had fulfilled its task of becoming a new communication platform for the grain market ecosystem — grain exporters, agricultural producers, infrastructure companies and government authorities. They also noted the high level of organization and expressed their desire to hold the forum on a regular basis.
