Russia may break the record for grain exports

In the current season 2022-2023 The Russian Federation exported about 40 million tons of grain. Such data are provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Despite sanctions and other problems, Russian agricultural producers and exporters manage to cope with their tasks.

As Roman Nekrasov, Director of the Department of Crop Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, noted, Russia retains its competitiveness at the world level.

At the same time, Russian agricultural products are expected all over the world today, since they really save people from hunger. And if so, then nothing prevents us from continuing to supply products to various parts of the world, while receiving a good and stable profit.

How much grain will Russia sell this year?

Export sales are hampered by several factors at once.

Export quota, which will be valid from February 15 to June 30 of the current year.

During this time, the maximum volume of grain sales should be no more than 25.5 million tons.

In total, it is planned to export up to 60 million tons of grain for the current season. Everything above the quota is planned to be implemented in the second half of the year.

Weather issues. For example, in February, the Black Sea had far from optimal weather conditions for shipping, which made it difficult to send grain abroad.

It is possible because of this that the export quota will not even be fully selected within the allotted period until June 30th.

Low prices on world markets, which also reduce the motivation of exporters to active sales.

To some extent, the weakening of the ruble could save the situation, but at the moment it is trading at almost the same levels as last January.

All this can lead to the fact that the balance of grain at the end of the season will be a record: according to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, up to 30 million tons.

In particular, the export of wheat can reach up to 44 million tons, and its carryover — about 17 million tons.

Despite all the difficulties, Rusagrotrans experts still predict that this season there will be a record wheat export of all time: 46 million tons.

The previous record of 42 million tons was in the 2017-2018 season.

Who buys Russian grain today?

Turkey is in first place, since last July, it has imported 5.5 million tons of Russian wheat, while last season the figure was 4.9 million tons.

This is followed by Egypt (5.3 million instead of 3.8 million), Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Iran.

At the same time, wheat exports to Iran fell by almost three times, which allowed Saudi Arabia to take a higher place in the list of importers of Russian products.
