China maintains record levels of grain production

Despite the fact that in many regions of the Celestial Empire there are adverse weather conditions, this should not prevent a good harvest.

The other day, the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, Pan Wenbo, noted that the department is going to do everything to prevent natural disasters and mitigate their consequences.

And the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Tang Renjian, assured that measures are being considered to guarantee the income of farmers.

Including, due to compensation, which is especially important for farms affected by various disasters.

For example, this year in the north of China, heavy rains, while in the southern part, on the contrary, drought.

I also had to face the invasion of insects, and all this in total reduces the yield.

However, so far it is possible to keep at high levels, despite all the problems listed.

It is planned that the total volume of grain production this season will be at the level of 650 million tons, and this is again a record figure.

Spring grain production this time amounted to about 146 million tons, and this is a decrease of only 1% compared to last year.

At the same time, according to officials, winter wheat plays the most significant role in ensuring food security in China.

In the near future, the area under it is planned to increase to 87 million hectares.

In general, as Pan Wenbo noted, now China has very large stocks of wheat, so a slight decrease in the harvest compared to last year should not have a significant impact on the grain market.

“Summer grain yields have reached the second-highest level in history, and this is still a harvest season that will lay a solid foundation for stabilizing annual grain production,” the department stressed.

In general, China is betting on the development of its own agro-industrial complex, and it will continue to develop, despite all the difficulties.

“China, with a huge population of 1.4 billion people, or about one-fifth of the world’s population, accounts for only 9% of global arable land.

However, most of the food for the domestic market comes from China’s own agricultural land,» Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the end of last year.

He called for improving the quality of agricultural land in the country, as well as introducing additional benefits for producers.

Additionally, we should work on the development and implementation of high technologies, especially in the field of seed production and the production of equipment that Chinese farmers need on an ongoing basis.
