The increase in price averaged 10-12 thousand rubles per ton. In most regions, the purchase price reaches 78.5-82.5 thousand rubles per ton.
It is noteworthy that sunflower also rose in price, but only slightly. The increase amounted to 0.5-1 thousand rubles (28 thousand rubles in purchase and 29 thousand rubles in sales).
The export price has risen by about $30. In August, it is $950 per ton (FOB) — this is the offer price. As for the demand price, it is slightly lower and amounts to $920 per ton (FOB).
What explains the rise in prices for sunflower oil?
If we talk about export prices, they have increased due to the increase in the cost in foreign markets.
Raising the price of crude oil, according to experts, will continue in the near future.
This is due to two factors.
Firstly, supplies from Ukraine have decreased, and secondly, the cost of oil has started to rise. The process is natural, given the current realities.
Against the backdrop of a rise in the price of sunflower oil, the not so strong rise in prices for sunflower is quite understandable: the established duties on the export of sunflower limit competition within the country.
Sunflower oil prices are rising and there is hardly anything that can be done about it. Even the upcoming sunflower harvest on Russian fields is likely to have little effect on this trend.
At the same time, sunflower carry-overs are very high: about 1.2-1.3 million tons. This factor may have a significant impact on the price level at the beginning of the new season.
The political situation is not developing in the best way, the same can be said about the economic one.
Uncertainty with shipments of oil and fat products, previously supplied from Ukraine, only aggravates everything. Within the framework of the domestic market, the situation is the same as within the framework of a large-scale conjuncture.
The rise in prices for sunflower oil started in July. In the country, the cost of a ton amounted to 80 thousand rubles. Months earlier, this figure was about 10 thousand rubles. less.
As export prices continue to rise and the ruble weakens, sunflower oil is more likely to rise in price. Prices for sunflower in the regions of the Russian Federation continue to strengthen.
This situation is largely due to the recovery of world quotations for this product. Russia’s membership in the «grain deal» has been suspended.
