Rapeseed, soybeans and sunflower will remain the most profitable crops

Ruseed analysts have calculated which crops are the most profitable at present. These are rapeseed, soybeans and sunflower.

According to the latest data, the profitability of rapeseed this year was about 44%.

We are talking about the difference between the cost of production and the price at which the product can be sold.

Producing a ton of rapeseed now costs about 22.5 thousand rubles, and it can be sold for 32.5 thousand.

The second place in terms of profitability is shared between soybeans and sunflower, their figure is about 30%.

To produce a ton of soybeans, you need to spend 26.5 thousand rubles, but it can be sold for 34.5 thousand.

In the case of sunflower, the figures will be as follows: 20.5 thousand rubles and 23 thousand.

In third place is corn, its profitability does not exceed 14% at the end of the year, although now it is practically zero, taking into account current prices.

The situation is exactly the same with barley: it is now unprofitable to sell it, while in general over the last year the average profitability for this crop did not exceed 2%.

As forwheat, its profitability is also about 14%.

Now it is sold for 11.5 thousand rubles per ton, and the cost of its production is about 10 thousand. We are talking about 4th grade wheat.

The list of profitable crops is changing quickly

For example, at the end of last year, the top three looked completely different.

Then the top 3 were occupied bybuckwheat, sunflower and sugar beet. For buckwheat the profitability was as much as 77%, for sunflower 59%, for sugar beets 49%.

In addition to the change in cultures, one cannot help but pay attention to the fact that, in general, the profitability of the leaders has fallen.

This year’s high of 44% is below the low of 49%. This is due to a number of factors.

Among other things, the following had a decisive influence on profitability:

— Decrease in world prices for most types of agricultural products.

— The predominance of supply over demand due to high stocks that formed due to last year’s record harvest.

— The dollar exchange rate, which changed significantly during the year many times, which led to changes in the cost of both final products and imported equipment.

— Export duties, which are established for the sale abroad of many types of agricultural crops, for example, sunflower and wheat.

Currently, the situation in the industry remains difficult, since profitability has decreased significantly. For this reason, most farmers are now waiting for an increase in export prices, a reduction in duties or support from the state.
