According to experts, by 2030 the export of fat and oil products produced in Russia may increase 1.5 times and amount to about 16 million tons.
In 2023, 11.1 million tons of oilseed processing products were supplied abroad, noted Mikhail Maltsev, executive director of the Fat and Oil Union.
By 2030, this figure could reach 16 million tons, which would be an increase of 1.5 times, or 5 million tons.
By the way, at present the rate of export of oil and fat products is not only growing, it is doing so faster than the volume of Russian agricultural exports as a whole.
For example, from 2018 to 2023, according to Maltsev, the total volume of agricultural products increased by 9%, while supplies of oil and fat products increased by 16%.
The Fat and Oil Union predicts that in the current year 2024, Russia can send about 12.5 million tons of fat and oil products abroad.
The yield of oil and fat crops will increase
It is planned that by 2030, the production of oilseeds in the Russian Federation should approach 35 million tons.
This is more than 5 million tons higher than the 2023 figure, which is 29.2 million tons and is currently considered a record.
Such an increase in the production of raw materials should, in turn, cause an increase in the production of fat and oil products. There, too, a significant breakthrough is expected: from 25 million tons in 2023 to 33 million tons by 2030.
To do this, it will be necessary to increase production by about 5 million tons, which is about 15% of existing capacity. According to Maltsev, this goal is quite achievable and not too ambitious, and therefore it is possible that Russia can not only fulfill it, but also exceed it.
According to experts, the export of oil and fat products will remain an important incentive for the growth of its production in 2030.
It is important that the emphasis will shift from the export of raw materials towards the sale of finished products with high added value.
First of all, we are talking about vegetable oils.
Despite the fact that in the last year we have seen a decrease in prices for oilseeds, they do not show such a sharp collapse as grain prices, the Institute of Agricultural Market Studies notes.
Therefore, their production and processing remain sources for farmers to obtain good profits.
Currently, a ton of sunflower costs about 30 thousand rubles, rapeseed — 40 thousand, soybeans — 44 thousand.
According to forecasts, by 2030 Russia may occupy a share of about 12% in the global vegetable oils market.
