According to the latest data, there is an increase in women’s interest in working in the agricultural sector, which may be one of the solutions to the personnel problem.
The shortage of personnel in the agro-industrial complex has been one of the most serious problems existing in this industry today for several years. One of the possible solutions could be a wider involvement of women in work, experts believe.
It is currently noted that the demand for work in the agro-industrial complex among women is growing.
Already about half of the applicants for vacancies in this field are women, similar statistics are with students at the «Farmer’s School», after completing which graduates have the opportunity to start their own business.
Experts name several reasons why women have become more interested in the agricultural sector.
Firstly, this is an increase in salaries in this field, which is typical for the entire market today, but farmers often have to raise salaries more than others in order to attract personnel, since due to the need to live in rural areas, such vacancies are usually in lower demand.
Secondly, modern technologies significantly reduce the need for physical labor.
It is emphasized that women most often go into the agricultural sector for specialties that are not purely agricultural. For example, SMM manager, financier, marketer, analyst.
Many of these professions make remote work possible, which also solves the problem of moving to rural areas. For the most part, young women aged 18 to 34 apply for such vacancies, experts note.
As for starting their own business, in recent years more than 2.8 thousand women have defended business plans for starting their own agribusiness.
They are most interested in such industries as beekeeping, dairy farming, and growing fruit and berry crops.
Businessmen today welcome the increasing interest of women in the agricultural sector.
“Women have traditionally been at the core of the rural way of life. Now the agricultural sector has reached a new level of development, has become more technological and needs specialists from related industries.
And today women in the agro-industrial complex are no longer engaged in traditional agricultural work, but play an important role in processing, marketing of final products, information technology, managing farm finances and much more,” notes Elena Baturova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Rosselkhozbank.
At the same time, the qualifications of a specialist are usually in first place for companies, so they equally often hire both men and women who have the necessary skills.
