China Transforms Grain Production

A special platform has been created in the Chinese province of Qinghai, the purpose of which is to transform grain production based on new principles.

Chinese researchers aim to make wheat, as well as barley, as useful for human nutrition as possible in the foreseeable future. To do this, it is supposed to use selection and special fertilizers of new varieties.

Researchers currently note that significant results have already been achieved in this area.

In particular, 5 new varieties of wheat have been bred, which significantly surpass their analogues in terms of grain quality and yield.

The most famous variety of winter wheat is «Qingdongmai No. 1». As for barley, the variety «Kunlun No. 19» attracts attention.

This is a high-mountain variety that is rich in mineral elements, and therefore can become an essential part of a healthy diet. It is noteworthy that the cultivation of such barley is carried out, among other things, using Beidou precision seeding navigation equipment.

This allows us to reduce seed costs, increase yields, and improve the quality of the grain that will ultimately be obtained, experts say.

As a result, we see a kind of synergy of technologies: breeding successes are superimposed on technical developments, and all this together shows a very good result.

In addition to the research base, the Qinghai platform also includes a demonstration and advertising component.

It is very important to effectively inform the public and business about successes in the field of breeding and technology, to arouse the interest of farmers in new developments and ultimately to facilitate the introduction of these developments into everyday practice.

This was reported by the National Center for the Dissemination of Agricultural Technology of China.

Thus, while research centers offer their latest developments, marketing institutions are engaged in attracting people’s attention to them and ensuring the promotion of innovations.

In parallel, training is carried out, explaining the positive role that new developments can play in the lives of agricultural producers.

Many experts believe that such a model, developed and actively used by China today, can become a role model for many other countries, and in the near future we will probably see how it will be widely implemented in a number of countries. It is noted that in the last 3 years of the platform’s operation alone, it has brought manufacturers benefits of over $1.7 billion.
