Agriculture in the Russian Federation has great potential for digitalization

As noted, agriculture is currently among the lagging industries in terms of digitalization, but there is room for growth.

Today, agriculture ranks only 16th among all industries in terms of digitalization implementation. This follows from the results of a study conducted by the analytical agency of the T1 holding.

In total, about 6 thousand agricultural companies were analyzed, including both large holdings and small farms.

At the moment, only a third of companies use cloud services to optimize their business processes. Of these, about half provide data storage using digital technologies.

At the same time, according to data for 2023, about 90% of companies used information security tools in their daily activities. Including authentication and encryption tools, as well as intrusion detection.

About 5% of enterprises already use biometric authorization, which is currently considered by many to be one of the most promising technologies.

As for the technologies united under the general concept of artificial intelligence, its application also finds its place, although not as actively as some other technologies.

Nevertheless, according to the results of the study, about 20% of the surveyed companies are already using natural language processing systems, as well as speech recognition and synthesis.

Computer vision technologies are used most of all, every third company reported their use.

In particular, such vision allows you to effortlessly monitor the condition of crops in the fields and make a timely decision about when it is time to carry out certain actions, such as watering or pest control.

Smart irrigation systems are also actively used, when AI helps to determine the optimal volume and time of watering, which contributes to a significant improvement in the condition of plants, and in addition, a noticeable reduction in water consumption.

Automation and digitalization of systems for monitoring crop storage conditions also helps to improve its safety and reduce losses many times over.

E-commerce has become a real trend in the use of digitalization in the agro-industrial complex.

There is data that almost half of the companies use it to make purchases.

This allows you to reduce both the time it takes to carry out the necessary operations and the associated costs, and in addition, it often allows you to choose the most favorable conditions.
