According to the latest estimates, up to 34 million tons of oilseeds may be harvested in the Russian Federation this season, which will be a good result compared to the previous one.
According to analysts, the oilseed harvest in Russia in 2025 may exceed 33.5 million tons. In 2024, this figure was about 29 million tons.
Thus, we can talk about an increase of about 13%. It is noted that the new value will most likely be a record, since the country has never previously collected such significant oilseed harvests.
Experts expect that harvest growth will be observed for almost all major crops.
For example, there is reason to believe that about 19 million tons of sunflower will be harvested, about 8 million tons of soybeans, about 5 million tons of rapeseed, and about 2 million tons of oilseed flax.
One of the reasons for such growth may be the expansion of sown areas, which was carried out by farmers in the current season.
The total area under oilseeds was 22 million hectares, which is 12% more than in the previous season. Thus, we see that the harvest, according to analysts, can grow by about the same amount as the sown area.
At the same time, much depends on weather conditions, experts note.
For example, this season, companies had to face drought in the southern regions, which traditionally lead in agricultural production.
For example, these are the Krasnodar, Rostov and Volgograd regions. High temperatures against the background of insufficient precipitation threaten the loss of a significant part of the harvest, experts warn.
At the same time, the center of the country, as well as the Volga region and Siberia, will be able to partially compensate for these losses, since in these areas this year the weather was generally favorable to farmers.
Currently, the harvesting campaign is actively underway in Russia, experts note.
According to data as of August 27, rapeseed has been harvested on 20% of the area. At the same time, the yield was slightly lower than in the previous year: 23.7 centners per hectare versus 24.4.
In many ways, this trend is connected precisely with weather problems in the southern regions, since a lack of moisture can reduce the quality of the harvest.
At the same time, analysts expect that in the central part of the country, as well as in Siberia, a decrease in yield is unlikely to occur.
In general, experts are currently inclined to increase forecasts for the volume of oilseed harvest in Russia.
If the harvesting campaign does not encounter significant weather difficulties, then record values for the oilseed harvest this year are very likely.
