Agricultural production is growing in Russia

Analysts note that agricultural production in Russia increased by approximately 5% in 2025.

Last year, agricultural production volume in monetary terms increased to 19.6 trillion rubles, experts report.

This is a positive result, as in 2024, instead of growth, there was a decline of 3.3%, and in 2023, the dynamics were virtually zero: growth was only 0.3%.

It is noted that the 5% increase does not take into account new regions of the Russian Federation, so the actual growth may be higher.

It is worth noting that almost all of this growth was ultimately achieved by crop production.

Production of this product increased by a full 9%. This is a very positive result, considering that the previous year we saw a 6% decline.

As for livestock production, production in this segment increased by only 0.1% in 2025. This result is significantly worse than in 2024, when growth was 0.5%.

A few days ago, Rosstat published data on the 2025 harvest, which also provides a good overview of crop production development.

Specifically, in 2025, the total grain and legume harvest amounted to 139 million tons, compared to 126 million tons in 2024. Last year, farmers also managed to harvest 91 million tons of wheat.

There is also positive momentum in oilseeds.

In 2025, farmers harvested 17 million tons of sunflower, compared to 16.9 million tons in the previous season. The soybean harvest increased from 7 million to 9 million tons, and the rapeseed harvest increased from 4.7 million to 5.6 million tons.

At the same time, certain segments of crop production are showing a decline.

Specifically, sugar beet harvests fell from 45 million tons to 43.6 million tons, while vegetable harvests fell from 13.9 million to 13.8 million tons.

At the same time, Russian farmers managed to harvest more potatoes than the previous year: 19.5 million tons for 2025, compared to 17.8 million tons.

Finally, fruit and berry harvests totaled 4.3 million tons, compared to 4 million tons in 2024.

In livestock production, the results were much more modest. Livestock and poultry production for 2025 decreased by 0.2%, to 17 million tons. Cattle production fell even more sharply: by 5%, to 1.26 million tons. Milk production increased by only 0.5%, and egg production by 4.3%, experts note.

Overall, crop production performed well in 2025.

The final result exceeded the forecasts of many analysts, who were confident that unfavorable weather conditions in the first half of the year would significantly worsen the results.
