This was announced by the financial director of VTB Dmitry Pyanov.
Since 2018, VTB Bank began to rapidly increase its assets in the grain business, consolidating them in the company Demetra-Holding LLC.
At the moment, the company’s assets include:
Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (100%) — one of the largest grain handling complexes in the country
Grain terminal complex «Taman» (50%) — one of the most promising and developing grain terminals in the port of Taman
Novorossiysk Plant of Grain Products (35.36%) — a high-tech port transshipment complex
Ipatovsky bakery plant (100%) — a modern complex with a developed railway structure
Smartseeds (logistics) — the leading digital platform for grain transportation in Russia
Demetra Trading (formerly Mirogroup Resources) (100%) is the largest grain exporter in Russia
In 2019, the bank acquired 50% + 1 share of the railway operator RTK, which in general ranked fourth in Russia, and first in the transportation of grain, fertilizers and timber.
The company has a fleet of 64,794 wagons.
Since 2011, the RTK group of companies has transported over 160 million tons of cargo.
In 2020, the head of VTB bank Andrey Kostin said that the bank does not plan to leave the grain business in the next 5 years.
According to some sources familiar with the bank’s plans, the planned deal may be of a technical nature, while other sources report plans to transfer Demetra to their grain holding.
The press service of Demetra Holding, in response to an inquiry from Reuters, said that the ownership structure of the companies would not change and “we are talking about a change in the level of control on the part of Demetra-Holding”.
On July 1, 2021, Sergey Emdin was appointed General Director of Demetra-Holding LLC.
