Russian farmers in the current season again demonstrate excellent results

2020 became a record year for farmers in many respects. Therefore, one of the main tasks for 2021 is to maintain the past results.

One of the main achievements of 2020 was the growth of agricultural production by 1.5%.

At the same time, profit growth in the agricultural sector amounted to + 76%, which is +625 billion rubles.

Profitability of the agricultural sector — 21%.

The share of profitable enterprises was 86%. This can also be considered a record figure, as the average value is 70.6%.

For certain types of agricultural products, in particular for crop production, the profitability of farmers in 2020 has also increased.

Cereals — 1.6 times.

Sunflower — twice.

Soybeans — 2.5 times.

Sugar beet — more than 6 times.

At the same time, one of the most important indicators for farmers last year was export income, which amounted to about $ 30 billion.

What results can we expect in 2021?

As for the export proceeds, according to experts, it should remain at about the same level as a year ago — and possibly even grow.

Over the past 7 months of 2021, agricultural products were sold for export in the amount of $ 16.8 billion. And this is 16% more than a year ago.

It is quite possible that it will even be possible to break last year’s record.

A very important indicator is agricultural production growth .

According to First Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko, this year it may reach 5-6%.

At the same time, the representative of the audit company EY Maxim Nikitochkin believes that 5% is an extremely ambitious task.

The high rate of last year makes growth this year very difficult. So the grain results are likely to even decline. Growth can only take place in sugar beets, the harvest of which last year was rather low than high.

Dmitry Rylko, Director General of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, agrees with this position.

In his opinion, the growth of agricultural production in 2021 can be no more than 3% — first of all, for meat and milk, as well as for sugar beets and oilseeds.

According to Victoria Abramchenko, Russia’s entry into the top 10 world suppliers of agricultural products is becoming an ambitious plan today (now it is in the top 20).

For this, it is planned, in particular, to put into circulation 13 million hectares of land by 2030, as well as to comprehensively support the development of rural areas.

The key to success is also the qualitative development of the agricultural sector: providing farmers with opportunities to purchase modern equipment, to use the latest achievements of genetics and breeding.
