One of the most important issues was the discussion of soybean supplies.
Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of soybeans.
This year, 755 thousand tons of the product was imported from Brazil to Russia, and the annual supply volume is about 1 million tons.
The head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert drew attention to the fact that Brazilian partners need to strengthen control over the use of glyphosate (a herbicide that tends to accumulate in the soil) in soybean production.
Given the high level of cooperation between the countries, Brazil prohibited 4 companies from supplying soybeans to Russia due to the fact that their products contained increased levels of glyphosate.
Russia has also imposed restrictions on the import of meat products from Brazil in connection with a new case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
The ban applies to products manufactured in certain states and older than 30 months.
The parties also discussed the issue of agreeing on a certificate for the supply of feed and feed additives to Russia, which will enable Brazil to start exporting these products to our country.
Considering that the USA, Canada and some European countries are reducing the volume of exports of pet food, the development of this direction of trade can become very promising for Brazil.
In general, in 2021 (data as of September 24), Brazil delivered $ 1.13 billion worth of products to Russia, which is 7% more than in the same period in 2020.
Poultry meat was shipped 68.2 thousand tons, coffee beans — 51 thousand tons, peanuts — 67 thousand tons, apples — 21.5 thousand tons.
In turn, since 2019, Russia has been discussing with the Brazilian side the issue of supplying poultry products, as well as sending fish.
