FESCO expands its capacity

Transport Group FESCO acquired several thousand containers during 2021, including refrigerated containers, as well as additional sea vessels.

All these acquisitions were made as part of the development strategy implementation.

At the moment FESCO is already a very large transport group. In particular, it owns:

Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port.

Railway operator Transgarant.

The operator of the fitting platforms Russian Troika.

FESCO is actively involved in sea, rail and combined transport.

2021 was the year of recovery in demand following the coronavirus pandemic.

The container crisis also added fuel to the fire: China experienced a significant shortage of containers, which for the most part did not return from the United States or Europe, where they left with the cargo.

To solve this problem, FESCO did the following:

Purchased over 9000 new containers.

Acquired 300 refrigerated containers.

She supplemented her navy with 3 more vessels.

At the same time, one of them — «Yanina» — launched its maiden voyage back in September. The other 2 are due to join before the end of the year.

It is planned that all these vessels will be engaged in transportation on the company’s own shipping lines.

Taking into account new acquisitions, FESCO’s fleet will be over 20 vessels.

In 2020, there were also similar acquisitions: the company put 2 new vessels on its balance sheet.

As for containers, their total number on the company’s balance sheet will exceed 100 thousand TEU, taking into account 3,000 new 40-foot containers and 1,000 20-foot containers .

Currently, the company has taken on the balance of at least 4,000 containers built in the Chinese city of Dalian.

Another 5,000 containers are planned to arrive in November.

Their order in China is not accidental: it is there that today a significant share of goods arriving in different countries is produced.

So the containers are unlikely to stand for a long time: for sure, FESCO will immediately load them and put them into operation.

As noted by the vice-president of the company, German Maslov, the company responds with such acquisitions to the growing demand.

“Refhipping is currently on the rise with dry containers. There is a fairly high demand. The last few years they have been in a depressive state, but now — the past and this year — it is definitely an upsurge and new opportunities for us, ”he said.

All of this together will increase the capabilities of FE SCO by about 20%.

And in the event that the recovery in demand around the world continues, the company will meet it fully armed and will be able to additionally serve a large number of traffic, taking into account its new capacities.
