Russia’s largest oilseed processing plant opens

The plant was built by the largest meat producer — the Cherkizovo group.

The company is a leader in Russia in the production of chicken meat, turkey meat, pork and meat products.

The holding includes 11 poultry farms, 16 pig farms, 11 meat processing plants, 9 feed mills and about 300 thousand hectares of agricultural land.

Today the company exports its products to more than 20 countries.

Now the structure of the agricultural holding has been replenished with its plant for the processing of high-protein oilseeds (the main emphasis will be on soybeans).

The estimated capacity of the plant is about 1 million tons of soybeans per year (2.5 thousand tons per day).

The plant will produce soybean oil, meal, casing and lecithin.

The company’s nine feed mills in different parts of the country will become consumers of the products, and it is also planned to export to China, the CIS countries and other regions.

The project was implemented with the support of the Russian Agricultural Bank and investments of more than 10 billion rubles.

Cherkizovo Group announced its plans for the construction of the plant back in 2018.

The launch of the enterprise was planned for 2020 and provided for a processing capacity of 1.5 thousand tons per day.

The initial estimate of the cost of construction was 6 billion rubles. (August 2019 est.).

In autumn 2019, it was decided to increase the planned capacity to 2.5 thousand tons per day. Accordingly, the volume of investments was also increased and amounted to 7.2 billion rubles, and the project launch date was set for 2020-2022.

Part of the soybeans to fill the capacity of the enterprise will come from the company’s own fields, and part will be purchased from third-party manufacturers.

In Russia this year, 3.4 million hectares were allocated for soybean crops. Such figures allow us to count on a harvest of 5.5-6 million tons.

Thus, for the first time, Russia will be completely self-sufficient in soybeans, while few countries can go on self-sufficiency in this crop.

The company has installed the most advanced equipment from the world’s leading companies: Laidig and Crown.

A system for storing meal, which has no analogues in Russia, has been created, which completely excludes the contact of raw materials with the external environment.

The structure of the complex also includes an elevator with a capacity of 220 thousand tons of one-time storage, which can be doubled, as well as a railway station with a capacity of 100 wagons.

An oil extraction plant was opened in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk region, where 8 such enterprises are already operating with a total capacity of 3.2 thousand tons per day.

Now this figure can grow to 5.7 thousand tons.
