Technology helps Chinese farmers significantly increase production

100 digital agriculture pilot projects implemented in recent years

Feeding its population of 1.4 billion people is one of the most important tasks for China.

To solve it, the Celestial Empire is actively developing agriculture, including through the introduction of modern technologies.

The effect is significant: it was possible to increase the grain harvest by 60%, bringing it to 650 million metric tons.

Moreover, such a volume of collection has been maintained over the past 7 years.

What do Chinese farmers use today?

Big data

Many fields, such as rice fields, are equipped with multiple sensors.

Information from them is collected together and processed by artificial intelligence, thanks to which the management in a convenient format sees everything that happens in the fields: temperature, humidity, and the presence of pests.

This allows you to effectively carry out the necessary activities, as well as save fertilizers, pesticides and water.

A large number of agricultural machinery

There are about 4,000 species of it in China. About 70% of sowing and harvesting work is done with the help of machinery, which greatly speeds up the process.

Advanced agricultural technologies

For example, it is not uncommon for soybeans and corn to be grown together in the same field.

This simplifies processing, reduces the amount of equipment that is required, and reduces fuel consumption for its operation.

Active exchange of experience

There are almost 60,000 agricultural technology promotion agencies and almost half a million agricultural technicians in the country.

All this helps to quickly transfer successful experience from one farm to another.

Ecommerce Platform

It is through it that many manufacturers sell their products. The total value of retail sales exceeded 420 billion yuan.

At the same time, it is not planned to stop there.

Looking forward, China will implement sustainable land use strategies, make breakthroughs in basic agricultural technologies, and develop seed companies with strong international competitiveness,» said Zhou Yunlong, head of an agricultural cooperative in Shandong Province.

There are 56,000 agencies that promote digital agriculture in China.

Most farmers in the country manage their agricultural land with large databases.

Thanks to this, among other things, China has been able to maintain grain production at a level of over 650 million metric tons for 7 years already.
