Russia Increases Export of Oil and Fat Products

According to the latest data, during 2024, the Russian Federation increased the volume of export of such products by about 5%.

In total, about 11.7 million tons of fat and oil products were exported last year. It is emphasized that this is an increase of 570 thousand tons compared to last year, or 5%.

At the same time, certain types of fat and oil products supplied for export also break volume records.

For example, the export of sunflower oil increased by 1 million tons and amounted to 5.4 million tons, which is also a very significant increase.

To which countries does Russia supply its products today?

Experts note that the number of destinations for such deliveries has increased significantly recently. Today, the Russian Federation exports fat and oil products to 131 countries at once, which allows for diversification and minimal dependence on specific buyers.

One of the most important buyers of sunflower oil can be called India, which has increased purchases of this type of product, expecting a reduction in sunflower production in the Black Sea region.

In addition, China is an important importer of Russian rapeseed oil.

It entered into a trade conflict with Canada, limiting the volumes of products purchased there, which became a good opportunity for Russia to offer it its own products.

At the same time, a significant success can be considered the fact that Russia was able to supply its meal to new markets after the European Union, which was previously the main consumer of Russian meal, refused to purchase it.

Despite everything, export volumes have practically not dropped compared to 2023, which can be considered a significant achievement of Russian exporters, experts note, who were able to successfully overcome sanctions, as well as many other difficulties.

In addition to India and China, an important buyer of vegetable oil in the Russian Federation can be called Algeria, which for a long time was the leader in this regard, but then gave up the palm to these two countries, moving into third place.

In addition, sunflower oil is actively purchased in Russia by Turkey, Egypt, Iran, soybean oil by Egypt and Belarus, rapeseed oil by Latvia, Norway and Israel.

In addition to oil supplies, Russia is ready to offer other deeply processed products, such as margarine, to foreign markets.

Experts note that today it is most actively purchased by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. Mayonnaise is also in demand, purchased by Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
