Experts believe that preferential leasing may become one of the factors that will help grow sales of agricultural machinery in the country.
According to analysts, sales of agricultural machinery in Russia have recently shown a downward trend. For example, in January 2025, sales volumes amounted to about 8.9 billion rubles, which is 31% lower than the previous month.
The most noticeable decline is observed in the following types of equipment: forage harvesters, grain harvesters, tractors. The decline in these three categories was 40-55%.
Agriculturalists believe that the main reasons for the decline in sales are the rising prices for agricultural machinery, while prices for grain and other agricultural products are falling, which are currently at their lowest levels.
For this reason, it is becoming difficult for agricultural producers to purchase increasingly expensive equipment, since they do not have sufficient funds.
One of the possible solutions to the problem may be a set of government support measures, which have already been launched today.
— Targeted capitalization of companies for the purchase of Russian equipment.
— Preferential leasing for such equipment through the instrument of infrastructure bonds.
It is assumed that such measures should significantly support the market. First of all, the measures will help increase sales volumes of the most expensive types of equipment — combines and tractors.
It is worth noting that government support in the field of equipment leasing has been carried out for a long time, but this year its volumes increased from 8.3 billion rubles to 11.9 billion rubles.
This is due to the fact that the leasing instrument turned out to be in great demand — even more than expected, since many farmers are more willing to lease equipment than to purchase it for preferential loans.
Therefore, it is quite possible that leasing financing may increase in the future.
In addition, equipment manufacturers will now be reimbursed up to 50% of the discount that they provide to the buyer of equipment. It is assumed that this should help increase sales.
In general, replacing the entire fleet of agricultural machinery with new and domestically produced machinery is a large-scale goal at the intersection of import substitution and increasing the efficiency of agriculture in the country.
Currently, a significant part of all machinery available to farmers needs to be replaced.
Although it is unlikely that this problem will be solved quickly, with the help of large-scale government support, the goal can be achieved in the foreseeable future, experts believe.
However, if special measures are not taken, the situation may worsen.
