Brazil is becoming an important partner of Russia in the agricultural sector

According to the latest data, Brazil is the largest importer of Russian fertilizers and one of the main suppliers of coffee.

It is noted that at the moment, cooperation between Brazil and the Russian Federation in the agricultural sector remains at a high level in all areas. For example, new records were achieved in terms of supply volumes by the end of 2024.

In general, the volume of bilateral trade over the past year reached approximately 12.4 billion US dollars. This is 9% more than in 2023, which is a good result.

One of the main sectors of the agricultural sector that is actively developing is fertilizers.

“Brazil is the largest importer of Russian mineral fertilizers — more than a quarter of all Russian exports of agrochemical products are supplied to this country (11.4 million tons in 2024),” said Andrey Guryev, President of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers.

At the same time, Russia buys a significant amount of Brazilian coffee.

According to the latest information, in 2024, the Russian Federation bought 62 thousand tons of coffee beans from this country, which is 1.6 times more than the results of 2023. Thus, Brazil remains the main supplier of coffee to Russia.

In addition, it is noted that it is the agricultural industry that dominates the mutual trade between Brazil and Russia, accounting for about 90%.

In addition to fertilizers and coffee, legumes and meat are in first place in terms of supply volumes.

At the same time, the countries are not going to stop there, there are extensive plans to increase cooperation in the agricultural sector, since this can help to significantly unlock the potential of both countries.

In addition to cooperation at the level of officials, direct interaction between business representatives plays a crucial role, experts believe.

Therefore, it is planned that Brazil will participate, among other things, in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held from June 18 to 21 in St. Petersburg.

On the sidelines of this event, entrepreneurs from Brazil will have the opportunity not only to better understand the prospects for cooperation with Russia, but also to conclude direct agreements with Russian businessmen.

In addition, close cooperation is expected this year along the BRICS line between Russia and Brazil, which currently presides over the association.

It is noted that the similarity of geopolitical views largely contributes to the fact that cooperation in the economic sphere also proceeds smoothly and stably, for the mutual benefit of the parties.
