According to the latest data, over the past 5 months, the Russian Federation has significantly increased its buckwheat supplies to Turkey and pork supplies to the DPRK.
Buckwheat in Russia is currently grown mainly for domestic consumption. The reason is simple: this crop is in very little demand abroad.
However, in 2025, for the first time in history, Russian agricultural producers delivered a fairly large batch of this product to Turkey. We are talking about a volume of 1.2 thousand tons.
Experts note that this is several orders of magnitude more than in 2024. Then, buckwheat supplies to Turkey did not exceed 25 tons.
In addition, this year, Russia, also for the first time in history, sent buckwheat to Iraq. The volume of supplies amounted to about 250 tons.
In general, this year, buckwheat exports from Russia amount to about 153 thousand tons. This is a serious level, the achievement of which means that the country has great opportunities for deliveries abroad of such agricultural products as buckwheat.
Most likely, in the future we will see new records, and farmers will have motivation to increase the production of this crop.
In addition, this year was marked by another important event for farmers.
Namely, the Russian Federation sent 1.2 thousand tons of pork to the DPRK in January-May. This is significantly more than for the whole of 2024: 700 thousand tons.
Such an achievement is also a significant victory, especially considering that the DPRK market is quite promising, and further growth in supply volumes is quite possible.
By the way, in addition to pork, supplies of other agricultural products to the DPRK are currently actively growing. For example, wheat and rye-wheat flour.
Over the first 5 months of this year, the volume of such deliveries increased by 1.7 times and reached 8.3 thousand tons.
Finally, Russia also delivered rapeseed oil to the DPRK. This is a significant event, since previously there were no exports of such products to this country at all.
Analysts note that the volume of rapeseed oil sent is about 300 tons.
If we look at the whole picture, then over the course of the current year, Russia has already sent over 10 thousand tons of agricultural products to the DPRK. This is a quarter more than a year ago. Therefore, we can confidently say that deliveries to this country are gaining momentum.
At the same time, the Russian Federation continues to cooperate with its traditional partner, China.
For example, in January-April, it bought about 400 thousand tons of flax seeds. Compared to the same period last year, we see an increase of about 50% in this area.
