According to the latest forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Russian Federation may export up to 55 million tons of grain in 2025-26, including 44 million tons of wheat.
Such forecasts were voiced by the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Oksana Lut. At the same time, if the forecast comes true, the current volumes will differ very little from the previous ones.
In the past season, 53 million tons of grain were exported from our country, including 44 million tons of wheat. «In general, this corresponds to the average results of our exports over the past five years. That is, this is a fairly good result,» the minister believes.
It is important to note that since 2016, Russia has been a leader in the supply of wheat to the world market. The Russian government, together with farmers, plans to make great efforts to ensure that this state of affairs continues in the future.
In addition, in recent years, it has been possible to show good results in the export of other crops. For example, last season the country became one of the largest suppliers to the world barley market.
It is planned that this result can be maintained this year.
At present, Russia has a fairly large number of buyers of its agricultural products abroad, experts note. The list of importers includes as many as 108 countries. Last year, their list increased by 11 at once, which can be considered a significant achievement.
As for the harvest in the current season, the Ministry of Agriculture expects to collect 135 million tons of grain, including up to 90 million tons of wheat. Oksana Lut noted that sowing this year went well overall, no significant failures were noted.
At the same time, the drought that has set in in a number of Russian regions, as well as heavy rains, can make their own adjustments. This can negatively affect the final volumes of the harvest.
The minister also recalled that the decree of the President of the Russian Federation requires reaching the level of grain harvesting up to 170 million tons by 2030.
A lot of work needs to be done for this. Including in the area of logistics: recently, regions such as Siberia and the Far East have begun to play an increasingly important role in grain production in Russia.
Most likely, in the coming years, the grain surplus there will increase to 12 million tons, so additional measures will need to be taken to ensure the export of this type of product from there, which will require solving logistics issues.
In addition, low world grain prices do not allow farmers to extract large profits from its production, as a result, they have no motivation to increase the area under crops.
