Wheat continues to fall in price on the world market

According to the latest data, the price of a ton of Russian wheat for delivery in September fell to $227 from September 1-7.

The beginning of September showed that the trend of declining wheat prices continues.

In the first week of autumn, it fell by about $3 per ton, experts report.

At the same time, this trend has also affected products from other countries. For example, it is known that Romanian wheat fell by $5, French by $6, Argentine by $2, and American by $1.

In general, wheat on the world market is currently trading at a level of $221 to $233 per ton, analysts emphasize.

In general, the price drop that is currently happening can be considered natural, since many producing countries are currently harvesting their crops, including Russia.

At the same time, there are expectations that in many countries the harvest this season will be not just good, but even record-breaking.

For example, Australia is expected to harvest up to 34 million tons of wheat. This is 4 million tons more than previously predicted.

As for Russia, local analytical agencies have also increased the forecast for wheat harvest to 86 million tons.

It is noted that experts do not rule out a further increase in this value. In addition, it is calculated without taking into account new regions, so the real figures may be significantly higher.

Thus, Russia has every chance of setting a new record for harvest volumes, losing only to the 2022 figures.

At the same time, as always, weather conditions play a decisive role in how large the harvest will be.

However, analysts note that in the current season, everything is in favor of farmers: in the central regions of Russia, as well as in the Volga region, dry and warm weather has currently set in, which is perfect for harvesting. As for Siberia and the Urals, a decrease in precipitation is expected there too.

At the same time, in addition to harvesting the current season, farmers are preparing to start sowing winter crops almost immediately after it, for which the weather conditions are also favorable for now.

Meanwhile, wheat exports are quite active. In August, they amounted to about 4.4 million tons, experts note.

The main buyer countries were Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Kenya and Saudi Arabia.

It is noted that in order to stimulate exports, Russia needs to resolve issues with the development of exchange trade, as well as with the optimization of the railway transportation system for agricultural products.
