A support system for agricultural colleges is planned to begin operating in 2026, aimed at improving the quality of education at such educational institutions.
The government has developed a grant program for agricultural colleges, which will allow them to receive additional funding for their development.
Approximately 1 billion rubles are planned to be allocated to this program by 2026, as announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
A significant sum of up to 5 billion rubles is expected to be allocated to this program over the next three years.
«We expect that such measures will improve the quality of education at agricultural colleges in the short term, ensuring that young people willing to work in rural areas are familiar with the most modern agricultural technologies,» Mishustin noted.
With the funds received as part of the grant, the educational institution will be able to implement various development programs, such as the reconstruction or renovation of buildings, or the purchase of textbooks or software.
The institution will be able to cover 90% of these expenses with funds provided through the grant. No more than 10% of the college’s own funds will be required, but they can also be raised from employers for whom the college trains personnel; this type of collaboration has recently become increasingly popular.
It is noted that this work is being carried out as part of the federal project «Personnel in the Agro-Industrial Complex» of the national project «Technological Support for Food Security.»
To participate in the grant program, the college must train personnel in specific specialties.
This includes specialists in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, as well as veterinarians.
Furthermore, agricultural workers will soon be able to receive additional government support as part of the state program for integrated territorial development.
Teachers and scientists working in the agricultural sector will be able to purchase or build housing using public funds by signing a contract with an employer for a minimum of 10 years. At the end of this period, they will be able to purchase the housing at a significant discount.
Experts emphasize that this measure is also expected to help attract young specialists to the agricultural sector.
This scheme could prove highly sought after by both educational institutions and research organizations.
At the same time, analysts believe that addressing the personnel shortage is one of the keys to the active development of the country’s agricultural sector.
