Primorsky Krai Governor Oleg Kozhemyako noted that the region is ready to provide Chinese investors with tax breaks and other preferences if they want to invest in its development.
At the Russian-Chinese Forum on Investment Development and Trade Cooperation, Primorsky Krai Governor Oleg Kozhemyako offered Chinese businessmen specific investment projects. O
One of them is the port of Vladivostok.
Currently, trade turnover between the Russian Federation and China is actively growing due to Russia’s turn to the East, as well as the conclusion of strategic agreements between the heads of state.
In connection with this, the existing port capacities are beginning to be insufficient.
Investments in its modernization, as well as in the construction of new ports, will enable Chinese investors not only to make a profit, but also to invest in the development of exports to China of goods necessary for the development of this country.
In addition, Kozhemyako noted that the region is ready to provide Chinese businessmen with up to 30 thousand hectares of land for growing rice on it.
He also added that he sees great interest in agriculture from investors from China.
In addition, they are interested in mechanical engineering, construction, timber processing, and the hotel business. At the moment, as the governor said, up to 40 investment projects in these industries are already being implemented.
As for agriculture specifically, Kozhemyako also invited investment in the construction of a grain processing plant in Primorsky Krai.
This is especially relevant in light of the fact that today the region is a major producer of corn and soybeans. Processing these crops in close proximity to the place of production will reduce logistics costs in the future.
Finally, the governor emphasized that at the moment, trade and economic ties between the Russian Federation and China are actively developing.
«After the opening of the borders in 2023, we actively began to restore our ties with China.
As a result of joint work, by the end of last year, the trade turnover between China and Primorye increased by 14% and reached $ 8.6 billion — this is almost half of the trade turnover of the Russian Far East with China.
Primorye is the largest multimodal container hub. Every second sea container of Russia is processed here,” he said.
An additional tool for expanding cooperation between the countries could be the opening of representative offices of Primorsky Krai in China.
Currently, such bodies operate in Dalian and Harbin, and in the near future it is planned to open a representative office in Liaoning as well, which could benefit Chinese businesses that are ready to invest in Primorsky Krai.
